# Dos & Don'ts

To keep your deployment safe, compliant, and reward-eligible, please follow the best practices below.

#### ✅ Do’s

  Wait for our personal install package before proceeding with any setup.
* **Use shielded, outdoor-rated Ethernet and PoE**\

  Higher placement = better coverage and rewards.

#### ❌ Don’ts

* **Don’t install your radio without approval**\
  Your node must be onboarded and authorized before powering on.
* **Don’t guess or estimate mounting locations**\
  We will help you optimize placement based on RF models and rewards.
* **Don’t skip surge protection**\
  Even a short run of cable without protection can damage your equipment.
* **Don’t modify firmware or attempt reconfiguration**\
  Radios must run factory software configured by Karrier One.
